The Street Department erects all street and stop signs, repairs potholes, does centerline striping, crack sealing, maintains unimproved streets, paints curbs, removes snow and trims trees and grass on all city right-of-ways. This division maintains street and traffic lights and repairs all city facilities.

Mr. Joe DeSantis has served as the Superintendent of the Street, Sanitation and Electrical Departments for the past 20 years. He began service with the city in 1984 as a Steubenville 5^th Ward Councilman servicing two terms. Then in 1988, he was hired as the Superintendent with an extensive background in equipment operations in the duties mentioned above. He is a life-long resident of the City of Steubenville and enjoys serving the constituents of our town. He graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1964 then went on to Kent State University to obtain a degree in Public Relations. He also served in the Ohio National Guard for six year as an Equipment Operator. He currently sits on the City’s Safety Committee and is a member of the American Legion Post 33.
