The Wastewater Department is responsible for the proper purification and filtration of the 3,000,000 gallons of wastewater Steubenville produces every day. The processing of the water takes place at the Wastewater Treatment Plant at 100 North Water St.( right next to the county jail) The Wastewater Department has twenty full time employees. These employees oversee the twelve hour process that reduces the 3,000,000 gallons of wastewater to 30,000 gallons of sludge, which is then shipped to the digester for a 30 day stay. The Wastewater Department is also responsible for the unclogging of sewers and the rat baiting. The department is under the direction of superintendent Mr. Rocky Augustine, who has held this position for 10 years.
